RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT:
Divya Medical Devices is engaged in the following projects:
NON INVASIVE EARLY DETECTION OF TUMORS : Non invasive technologies are under development for early detection of Tumors. Today, symptoms of tumor are noticed only at the advanced stages when treatment is uncertain. It has been recently reported that the use of CATSCAN is harmful to normal cells. Therefore noninvasive technologies for early detection of tumors is necessary. Tumor growth and proliferation can be arrested if it is detected at the formative stages.
DERMATOLOGY: A Carotenoid derivative has been synthesized. This has been found to be an effective Tanning agent in animals. This is covalently attached to the adipose tissue. This is a potential anticancer agent for skin.
SURGICAL TOOLS: A new biocompatible and non immunogenic material for wound healing is under study. This material is an ideal surgical tool for Gingivitis, Corneal lesions and dermal lesions.
HEMATOLOGY: A new Antithrombic drug has been synthesized and this has been incorporated in a bioreactor. The bioreactor provides reversible inhibition of Thrombin.The system sustains antithrombic activity and the thrombin inhibited blood can be used in auto transfusion systems, and heart-lung machines. This surface can be incorporated in drug delivery systems and even prosthesis. Extension of this project is in the development of a stent for dissolving blood clots. Use of this device will become the substitute for current surgical procedures.
MOBILITY: A simplified wheel chair is under design which can be operated very easily by those who are disabled.
NANOTECHNOLOGY: Nanotechnology is being explored for developing probes for detection of tumors, treatment as well as bioweapons.
OPHTHALMOLOGY: A UV blocker has been chemically attached to a soft gel polymer contact lens. The surface modified polymer is transparent. Extension of this project is aimed at developing ocular drug delivery system for treating Glaucoma.
WOUND HEALING: New polymers and surface modified biological membranes are under development to facilitate wound healing process.
CLINICAL DIAGNOSTICS: As soon as the Diagnostic laboratory is established, most of the Clinical diagnostic tests will be carried out keeping the health care costs under control. The following Services are being planned to be offered to Physician’s offices, Nutritionists, Chiropractors, Alternative medicine practitioners and sports physicians, Forensic investigators and Veterinarians:
Clinical Diagnostic tests on blood, urine, hair and other biological material
Therapeutic and Toxic Drug Monitoring
DNA profiles, genetic markers and Fingerprinting
Screening Tests for Cancer
Development of new Analytical methods
